Sarah’s speaking experience extends to radio, television, writer’s festivals, schools and events. She has taken up writer’s residencies in both public and private schools in NSW. She’s been on TV and Radio discussing writing, Gen Y, pop-culture, gender, multiculturalism and the Middle-Eastern community in Australia. She is a Stella Schools Ambassador, promoting female voices in literature, and a member of the Australian Society of Authors. If you’d like her to appear at your school or event, or would like her to comment on an issue, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Below is a list of upcoming events.
In Conversation with Nadia Hashimi
Sydney Writer’s Festival – From the Sidelines
YA offers a chance for authors to create a broader picture of a ‘typical’ teenager. Is it enough to include diverse voices if their only role is to prop up the hero? Why does the quiet kid always need to be saved by a cool romantic interest? Youth Curator Rameen Hayat speaks to Tamar Chnorhokian, Sarah Ayoub, Michael Mohammed Ahmad and Patrick Ness about diversity and tokenism in YA fiction. Programmed with SWF Youth Curators.
Sydney Writer’s Festival – Next Wave
Join three of Australia’s most exciting, fearless voices for a conversation with Sarah Ayoub about bringing the stories of second-generation immigrants to the mainstream. Omar Musa offers his perspective as a Malaysian-born rapper and poet whose debut novel explores the lives of multicultural youth. Fellow panellist Melanie Cheng was born in Adelaide and grew up in Hong Kong, and has written a fresh take on our multiculturalism in her debut collection of stories Australia Day. And Arab-Australian novelist Michael Mohammed Ahmad provides insight into the cultural identity of young people in Sydney’s west.
